Dear Headmistress, dear MUN Directors,

Dear students, teachers (, parents?),

Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is a great pleasure to be here today, at the opening of the 21st Deutsche Schule Athen Model United Nations Conference, this three-day-long simulation of the work of the United Nations.

I firmly believe that secondary school students who participate in the MUN will gain valuable, life-changing experience. The opportunity to discuss issues of international interest with colleagues from various countries and cultural environments will broaden your horizons, enrich your thinking, and bring you in contact with global politics and diplomacy. I hope you are all very enthusiastic about this new venture that lies ahead.

I would like to congratulate the DSA for organizing the MUN, for offering students an opening to a new world. I wish you every success in your deliberations and, as far as the foreign delegates are concerned, a very pleasant stay in Greece.
